Adichie, Chimamanda Ngozi (1977-)

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie was born in Nigeria in 1977. She moved to the United States to attend college, and among other qualifications she holds a Masters Degree in Creative Writing from John Hopkins University.

Her debut novel Purple Hibiscus was published to wide acclaim, and won the Commonwealth Writers Prize in 2005 for the best first book. Later releases that have provided insight into Africa problems and ongoing turmoil, have gone on to gather more awards and favourable critical reviews.
