Cate Kennedy moved to Australia as a child. Born in Lincolnshire, England she has written poetry, is an award-winning short story writer and now the author an acclaimed novel. The World Beneath was the winner of the People's Choice Award in the NSW Literary Awards in 2011. Her collection, Dark Roots, was shortlisted for the Steele Rudd Award in the Queensland Premier's Literary Awards and for the Australian Literature Society Gold Medal.
