Akhtar, Ayad (1970-)

Ayad Akhtar is an American playwright, novelist, screenwriter and actor of Pakistani heritage. His best known play is Disgraced which won the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for Drama

Much of his work has examined the dual aspects of his identity, but he noted in a 2013 it took him a decade to tackle the subject; and he also spoke while writing about "identity politics" he is 'determined not to sermonise'.
